exactly our mentality since 26 years, however to this date we didn’t know there’s an actual acronym for it:

Publish (on your) Own Site, Syndicate Elsewhere – POSSE.

What this basically means:

We at AETHYX MEDIAE strongly believe in the power of the individual.
As such, it should be solely in control of the individual what is published online.

Today, this is the approach most individuals choose when publishing on the web: go to a huge (marketing and advertisment) platform, publish your own stuff there, become the product, loose all credit to your published stuff and stay in the digital bubble ad infinitum.

Our approach (it never changed in 26 years): publish your own stuff under your own control, then choose where to syndicate from there.

An easy example is an RSS feed: built-in into WordPress and other CMS systems, it lets users syndicate your published content via neat little programs called RSS readers. This way, it doesn’t matter what operating system someone is using or where he’s reading from, it’s readable on any computer anywhere on the planet. And if someone finds interesting what you are posting, by clicking the link the reader becomes your visitor.

Another example, social media synchronisation: no matter which platform (X, Facebook, Instagram, whatever, you name it), if you use WordPress as your CMS you install a plugin, configure and activate, and afterwards any post you did on your own website automatically gets posted into your social media feed. Configuration is not much of a hassle and, for example, if your favourite social media network goes offline, your content stays your content. It can’t be taken down, it won’t be deleted, you will never loose it. Be it text, your beloved photos, videos; all is safe on your own website on your own server.
