Dear readers and customers,
as of 2020 and we were ten years into the game here, we started making concrete plans for our future, the future of AETHYX MEDIAE.
We achieved a lot, we had fun building things; but in the end most of our developments centered around web development. Then came COVID-19 and things changed automatically, and irreversibly.
We came up with four fields last year for which we want to develop applications the coming years:
- AR – augmented reality
- VR – virtual reality
- AI – artificial intelligence
- Blockchain and DApps
The transition as well as development for those four fields will be done in three phases, called Phase I-III internally, over the next 10-15 years.
In the first phase, Phase I, starting 2020 and lasting until the end of 2024, we’ll start consolidation. Which means halting all development of unsuccessful apps and web projects we list on our “Where?” page. For example, only two of our Android apps are running well, all others flopped. We’ll stop developing those four and concentrate on our two most successful. Same with web projects: projects which don’t attract visitors or generate revenue will be abandoned, maybe need to be closed/sold (hint: open-source projects maximum will be abandoned, not closed).
Secondly, while still in our first phase, we’ll develop two market-ready applications for two of the four aforementioned fields. Our planning is two to four even.
The second phase, Phase II, is mainly about commercially having success with what we developed in Phase I. This will include marketing as well as having according partners and sponsors. Main target EU and European markets, but targeting worldwide audiences too.
Phase III is also about consolidation again, re-evaluating our efforts and successes, as well as our failures. It will be here if we decide to develop more and more; or keep to our developments if we see potential and still believe in those; or even close all together if total failure.
We think having a concrete plan these days is more important than ever. We don’t think we’ll ever have success with something if we don’t deliver for the four essential mentioned future fields.
The WWW as we came to know it and loved back then is dead since years. It’s time to move on. Success and failure are both two sides of the same coin. Let’s hope for the best and we rock the sh*t out if it the coming years! All in all, it was a helluva ride. But we need to stay realistic too: AETHYX MEDIAE started as a student project while at University. If it doesn’t mature and keep up with time, it will die as such.

2013: whistleblower Edward Snowden flees from the NSA to Hongkong and then to Russia while informing the world about secret spy activities against American citizens as well as those of other countries
2017: we read about the Vault 7 series by Wikileaks informing the world about the biggest intelligence leak to this date in covering similar techniques by the CIA
Times are changing and they are changing fast.
So, in a small time frame of only 16 months, our “prophecy” become true unfortunately, that the open web, the open internet is dead. And believe us, we also didn’t want to hear or read this, but http, the de-facto web protocol we all love and grew up with, is deprecated by now. This is like, well, telling millions over millions of web developers & users, bloggers, online journalists, artists, etc. all over the world “if you use insecure http, you suck!” It’s not fair, it’s not even their fault. But we pay for the bills in the end.
So, this March 2017 we did heavy work, project wide, under the hood: we switched from http to https. Everywhere. You can count us now to the 50% (at least according to Firefox statistics) of the web which implemented and use it already. This was no easy part and still there are issues. Let’s give you an overview of some of the problems we faced:
- 1. after all, find free and good CA sites. The most promising project by now is Let’s Encrypt. Their work is in fact so promising and backed by heavy champions of the industry, they really could achieve their goal to encrypt the entire www
- 2. read about the redirect methods in your
.htaccess, if you didn’t know already about it. Otherwise your sites will crash/not use https - 3. eliminate mixed content: unfortunately Mozilla, Google and Apple won’t accept https 100% when you start using using it. You need to invest time to eliminate all your old links to documents, graphics, counters, etc. Double check your databases too. This will take most of your time maybe, but it should be worth it
- 4. Relax, drink a beer, enjoy sun. You finally made it!
Working with the internet today is almost entirely defined by working with the WWW. No matter what you do, the most of the stuff you do online you do via your web browser. Heck, even smartphone apps use the web as their platform.
We may have lost the fight to keep the web an open medium. Not a good sign. But we are still in fighting to keep it a secure medium. Which is, well, until someone in maybe 27 years from now on (remember, the web was born around 1990) will know new facts, read between the lines again and state “https is deprecated”!
Never stop fighing. Never.

since yesterday the NATO sees cyberspace officially as a new territory for its operations. This is no good news for users of the interwebs.
I) Why is this a problem?
Currently the NATO exists of only 28 states out of 192 worldwide. To most people this “intergovernmental military alliance” lost its meaning completely at the moment the Berlin wall fell. Before that, the world was balanced by self-knockouts of two countries only, USA and Sovjet Union. The world lived in peace, or at least it was recognised by most people, after the fall of the Iron Curtain 1989, until September the 11th, 2001.
Unfortunately a lot has changed to the worse, not only regarding web topics. People are executed or jailed for publishing independent texts online and offline. Religious conflicts worldwide backed by military-industrial complex structures, most of them from NATO countries, arose and killed hundreds and thousands of people. The conflict with Ukraine is mainly a NATO, not a Russian problem. Former Warsaw Pact states were tricked in joining NATO first before becoming a full EU member. Al-Qaida became ISIL will become what-ever. The modernisation as well as the future development of new kinds of atomic bombs. And so on.
As you can see there is absolutely no advantage in being regarded an “operation territory” by NATO. We don’t know if they were just stupid or megalomaniac when they proclaimed that publicly. You as an internet user should be prepared for the worst; remember the Snowden files since 2013, please, if you didn’t believe citizen journalists before this American whistleblower already.
II) What can I do now?
The worst you could do: Going offline.
What we regard since several years is the fact that the internet became to powerful for the global elite to control and they want to trick you in leaving it to them what’s good for you. Believe us: we are here since 2000 already and if you don’t do it yourself, then someone else will do it for you! The internet is no TV is no radio! It’s too huge, too complex and no organisation or system, we repeat, no organisation or system on this planet to this date is able to process all data here!
That’s how Apple tried to take your mobile internet. That’s how Facebook took all of your friends as well as what you and your loved ones like. That’s why Microsoft bought Skype, Nokia as well as LinkedIn. They want you to believe that they own anything already and they keep selling you this lie. Yeah, then see for yourself how huge the web really is.
You know, we still remember the promises of the golden internet times 1999/2000 for anyone and AETHYX MEDIAE thinks this time is still to come! Don’t leave it all to giant corporations! III) Aren’t you just panicking?
No, definitely not. NATO today is good for nothing. It never was, actually. If you didn’t see or experience this on your own between 1989 and the end of 2001 we feel very sorry for you.
IV) Didn’t they forget to mention space?
Yes, they actually did. We believe that happened on purpose. We currently live in world with five realms: water, earth, air, space and cyber. We will never forget those stupid “Star Wars” plans by certain American politicians. In fact, one of those aggressive star wars systems is currently sold to Poland and will be operating there 2018. No one in the EU wants such systems and those are not needed. Regarding the tensions between Brussels and Warsaw at the current time, we, IOHO, think we lost Great Britain and Poland already to the USA. The EU won’t be able to change that. Shall they leave the European Union. For Europe, Russia was never an opponent! In history.
tl;dr
With the recent news that NATO, which and with it all of its member states failed on only one day in 2001, we don’t believe it’s a good sign now being regarded as target(s) when using internet and/or web services. Our article here pointed out our angriness as well as some hints for you as a user or small corporation to avoid future complications. That’s just our opinion but AETHYX MEDIAE as an independent publishing house thinks that as long as NATO exists there will be stupid wars for generations, no matter which realm. And you know who profit the most from those mass killings? Only the 28 wealthiest states on this planet. Time to become activists, people!
