Machine Learning & Artificial Intelligence
Above: “computer brains” and “machine learning” doesn’t exist. And probably never will.

Dear readers and customers,

the professional field of IT is a foggy sector sometimes. You will encounter more buzzwords than anywhere else throughout your career, most of them will loose their meaning entirely during the same timeframe, and what’s even more worse: you leave humans in anger and fear more times than it can be healthy for both sides, clients as well as customers. We need to actively change that for the better.

As such, and seeing it from a linguistic perspective too, renaming terminology is the way to go. And we fully support the idea provided by the Center on Privacy and Technology: reducing actively, or even eliminating where possible, the damage caused by digital technology.

One of the most popular and best examples: artificial intelligence. Today, 2022, even the most sophisticated supercomputers only provide the intelligence of a cockroach. Or more realistically: a network of cockroaches. As such, the center recommends eliminating this terminology completely. We fully support that one as well as the other mentioned buzzwords computers aren’t capable of: which is “thinking”. “Judging”. “Predicting”. “Interpreting”. “Decision making”. “Realising”. “Learning”. Humans and animals may be capable of all that. But no computer on this Earth, and possibly for many decades to come. Period.

If you encounter these associations somewhere, online or offline, be aware that you might be a victim of a creative marketing department. Nothing more, nothing less. “Artificial intelligence” doesn’t exist, not in the sense of the programmer Alan Turing, who invented the concept of turing completeness. Even more so as mentioned in the valuable and much more creative novels by authors of science fiction literature, who might be able to describe sentient artificial beings, maybe even their hypothetical behaviour. However it stays a fiction in any case, no matter how great the novel was you were reading. Sorry.

For us at AETHYX MEDIAE, this idea proposed by the Center on Privacy and Technology sounds like a no-brainer. However we are not free of bias as we have roots and work in this professional field since over two decades now. We’re sad that news agencies and journalists are not capable to reduce the damage before it reaches their readers. As it is in their responsibility to do their own research before making an article popular and publishing it to thousands of concurrent readers. As such, the warning and the proposal comes to late for us. For the year 2022 as well as for millions of people on this planet. Plus, we were also not safe sometimes to use misleading technology terminology. We need and want to apologise for that. And promise to change it for the better where we see fit.

Be proud to be human! Have no fear of IT! Keep thinking! As in the end, it’s just another field where people need to pay their rents from.

All the best,
the aethyx staff

Data Security Breach

Dear readers and customers,

IT security for our consumers and clients always is one of the top priorities at AETHYX MEDIAE, your friendly and independent European online publishing house.

That’s why we started implementing and activating SSL on all our products and projects in spring 2017 already.

Since this month, for one and a half week or so, we also activated the last lock for securing our domains and the communication over the aether: HSTS.

As of 2020, the measurements to be safe and secure is now at the absolute maximum, technologically it looks like the following:

* SSL activated since 2017
* SSL enforced since 2017
* HSTS activated (and set to 16,070,400 seconds) since 2020

At the moment, this has to suffice as we can’t do more for domain security from our side.

Let’s hope it stays this way but who knows what the future of the web will bring.

We leave a lot of old and maybe beloved browsers (and browser versions) behind with these measures. But in the end we’ll all benefit from it: the developers as well as the users and consumers.

We’re not sure if people will remember why we had to do this stuff. But the open web is dead anyway, there is nothing we can change about it, at least since May 2013. Seven years ago, that is, a very long time now.

Stay safe out there! With or without us!

Greetings,
the aethyx staff

If you want to know the entrepreneurial view of the Internet, visit Portugal: https://twitter.com/RoKhanna/status/923701871092441088.

Usually we don’t link to stuff on Twitter, because they are working on dismantling the web as we know it too. But the majority accepted this fake news medium already and we as experts(!) can’t do nothing about it.

Welcome to reality.

There’s serious stuff going on right now.

Imagine an Internet of lanes, where the ones get the fastest lane who pay the most. That would be the death of net neutrality, a concept which the Obama administration tried to support but right now seems to fail miserably.

A lot of corporations tried to kill the Internet before: Comcast. Verizon. AT&T. To name only a few. And the NSA stuff about Edward Snowden didn’t mean that things would get any better, to say the least.

We live in a world of sick societies. Most of the people you meet, you work with, you like and appreciate, don’t have the slightest clue what’s going on in reality. In real time. Anywhere. They just don’t give a shit, all they care about is C.R.E.A.M. We live in a cold, misinformed, polarising world, where those are punished who try to educate, evaluate, really want to entertain.

Prefixes are inverted in this world, what appears “good” is bad, what they call “bad” is often good. Good for you as an individual, good for your future, good for your morals. If you want to dive deeper, just check the biography of one of the most important geniuses of our time: Aaron Swartz. For those who never heard this name: he was the one realising the semantic web for the ordinary users, who killed himself because he tried to publicise closed-source scientific records. Welcome to your real world. Do you feel comfortable in this world? Do you have the slightest clue what’s really going on?

Let’s remember Thanksgiving 2017 as the time in history of mankind when the Internet died.

2016 they took us the pride to live in electing a racist, misogynic, dumb-as-fuck, feckless, apolitical, aryan, retarded US president.

It won’t get better from here. That’s something we should have realised by now. Next step is: support goes to the FCC.

We never wanted nor approved this. We weren’t asked.

“Go back to bed, America. Your government has figured out how it all transpired. Go back to bed, America. Your government is in control again. Here. Here’s American Gladiators. Watch this, shut up. Go back to bed, America. Here is American Gladiators. Here is 56 channels of it! Watch these pituitary retards bang their fucking skulls together and congratulate you on living in the land of freedom. Here you go, America! You are free to do what we tell you! You are free to do what we tell you!” – Bill Hicks

Update I, 11/27/17:

In the meantime, more than a million Emails repealing net neutrality were simply: fake email spam.
